New products usually take sometime to be officially available in Malaysia. Take Apple's much hyped about iPhone for example. Scheduled for launch in a couple of days time in the United States, we'll only be able to get our hands on it 'sometime' in 2008. Thats quite a long frustrating wait.
Dell Malaysia however has given us some reason to cheer. Their new super sexy XPS notebook, the M1330 is scheduled for worldwide availability from the 10th of July; and it is already open for pre-orders on the Malaysia site! Yes, we just completed the review of the M1220, and its going to become old news in two weeks time. The M1220 is still available for sale, and by our reckoning should continue to sell for sometime to come as the M1330 has a slightly larger screen, and cost quite a bit more than its older sibling.
Just how much more expensive? The basic pre-order price is stated at RM5315, inclusive of delivery. What you get for that price is a T7100 Core 2 Duo processor, Vista Home Premium, 2GB of RAM, 120GB of hard drive space, GeForce Go 8400M GS graphics as well as a 3 year XPS Premier warranty. There are 3 choices of colors as seen above, Tuxedo Black, Pearlescent White and Crimson Red - and just like the M1220, the LCD comes with a built in 0.3 megapixel webcam. Also included is a biometric fingerprint reader and all this in a 1.79kg, 3cm high body!
The one optional upgrade that really caught our eyes was the optional upgrade to a 32GB solid state hard drive. However be prepared to pay a premium if you choose to to a solid state drive. There is also references to an optional WLED display screen, but it doesn't appear on the configuration page.
There is another slight confusion at the Dell order page, as the first page claims delivery will be available from the 10th of July, while another page has delivery dates only starting on the 20th. Either way, please excuse me while i go find my credit card.
