HTC has announced their two new mobile devices, the HTC Touch Cruise, the latest PDA phone from HTC's Touch line and the HTC Shift, a Windows Vista based mobile computer with 3.5G and HSDPA connectivity, that also seems to be the first non-voice device from HTC.

With onboard tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, the HTC Shift allows users to link up to any mobile network, and enjoy high-speed internet access anywhere. With Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi, the Shift is also a perfect companion with most PCs, notebooks and wireless LAN networks.

The HTC Touch Cruise on the other hand, comes with HSDPA connectivity plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and GPS, making it a highly connected device for consumers on the move. Its 2.8” screen is great for enjoying mobile multimedia and because it runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional, the built-in Windows Media Player is ideal for music and movies.

The HTC Shift will be available sometime in March while the HTC Touch Cruise will be available sometime in February. Their recomended retail price will be RM5,499 and RM2,799 respectively.

Read on for more info and specs on the two devices.

Honestly speaking, I won't expect much "video acceleration" from a less than RM3K PDA phone.
I'll be truly surprise if there is any manufacturer does provide that capability.

For the long story, head on over to htcclassaction.org. Simply put, HTC has omitted including drivers to take advantage of video acceleration in their devices. And this is coming from a person who doesn't use a PDA to watch movies. HTC has traditionally asked for top dollar for their devices, and at 2.8k, the Cruise is no joke. Why in the hell would I wanna pay 2.8k for a device that buckles under GPS navigation and basic video playback? News from media friends has already told me that the camera is amazingly laggy - you can't even move a centimeter before the image gets too blurry to be snapped - come on. Ok, forget about all that. Whatever the case is, no matter what anyone will be using a PDA phone for, it is the very least considerate for a manufacturer to build a system that's every bit as powerful as it advertises. Best multimedia experience? Don't make claims like that if it can't even be bothered to include drivers, and charge us 2.8k for it, something I would rather spend on an N82.

Unless they fix or confirm that they will fix their performance issues with their Qualcomm procs, I will never go near a HTC ever again. I suggest everyone do the same.
