Cisco Malaysia recently held
its annual Networking Skills Competition at Universiti Kuala Lumpur on
5th May 2007. The competition is open to all Cisco Certified Networking
Associates 1 (CCNA 1) and Cisco Certified Networking Associates 2 (CCNA
2) students of the Networking Academy Program in Malaysia.
A total of 49 teams, comprising 147 students from 14 academies
participated in this year's competition. According to Cisco Malaysia,
the main objective of the competition was to promote and nurture the
development and understanding of core networking skills amongst students.
In addition, the competition also provided an opportunity for the
Networking Academy students to interact with each other and meet with
potential employers at a Job Fair held in parallel to the event. Both
the skills competition and the job fair were aimed to boost the
students' general confidence as they progress towards joining the ICT
workforce.
At the end of the day's event, six teams emerged as winners in two categories -- the Degree Category and Diploma Category. MMU Melaka G1 from Multimedia University Melaka campus bagged the first prize for the Degree Category, while Team Pluto from Malaysia France Institute won the Diploma Category. Both winners took home the individual trophies as well as book vouchers. In addition to that, Team MMU Melaka G1 was also rewarded with the Challenge Trophy for being the overall winner.
