Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, a brand synonymous with powerful mobile products and services, today launched Celcom Broadband, a new service that enables its customers to enjoy high speed data connectivity on the go for business and personal use, anytime, anywhere and at affordable rates.

With Celcom Broadband, Celcom now becomes the only mobile operator in Malaysia to offer daily unlimited mobile broadband services anytime, anywhere to its subscribers nationwide. It also makes Celcom the fastest mobile broadband provider with speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps based on High Speed Data Packet Access (HSDPA) technology, or better known as 3GX.

Commenting on this new package, Dato' Sri Shazalli Ramly, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad said, "Celcom Broadband offers our customers wireless internet access, with the widest 3G and 3GX coverage in Malaysia. This new package is also structured to provide flexibility and full mobility to users with low entry cost and commitment."

He added, "We are targeting areas that do not have fixed broadband, especially housing areas. Most of our sites are now HSDPA-enabled, which allow our customers to stay connected at all times,"

"Our Daily Unlimited Plan offers convenience for occasional users who now don't have the hassle of searching for a WiFi hotspot. Our customers can also enjoy the flexibility and choice of using the service with any 3G or 3Gx enabled device," Concluded Dato' Sri Shazalli.

Celcom Broadband comes in two different plans:

PLAN

NETWORK

SPEED

CHARGES

Daily Unlimited

(applicable for prepaid and postpaid)

GPRS / 3G & 3GX (HSDPA)

Up to 3.6 Mbps

RM8 / 24 hours access

Monthly Unlimited

(applicable for postpaid only)

GPRS / 3G

Up to 384 kbps

RM68 per month

To enjoy instant connectivity with Celcom Broadband, customers require either a USB modem, datacard or their 3G enabled phones as a modem and plug it into their notebook / laptop.

For the convenience of customers, the Daily Unlimited Packages can be subscribed via SMS by keying-in Broadband and sending it to 28882 or via USSD by dialing *118#. This will allow the customers to request for connectivity anytime, anywhere. As for the Monthly Unlimited Packages, they can be subscribed by visiting any of our branches or appointed dealers nationwide.

To date, Celcom has the widest network of any mobile network operator in the country, covering 97 per cent of the populated areas in Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak.

It also has the widest 3G and HSDPA coverage in the country. Celcom 3G even extends to the peak of Mount Kinabalu, giving Celcom the distinction of offering the widest, fastest and highest 3G coverage in the world. Celcom also offers the most remote coverage in Malaysia, with the recent installation of its network service in Maliau Basin, located in south central Sabah.

It was also proven that Celcom's network has even reached the highest peak in the world, which is Mount Everest, when the members of the Projek Merdeka de' Everest 2007 team made outgoing calls as well as received calls using the powerful Celcom GSM Satellite Communications System.

Regardless what celcom 3G has been offering..The connectivity still very much questionable.. Been using 7.2 mbs package since last 6 months.. Most of the time get very poor connection or should i say, no connectivity at central region, especially at night.. Occurred more regularly for the last 3-4 weeks.. One thing for sure, Celcom still far better than Maxis for broadband..

Is this plan for phones or just laptops with a receiver?

If it was for phones, then i think this brings Celcom one up over Maxis in leading the way towards making Internet mobile.
