Buying your Dell from a store
(23 votes)

That's right. Ever wondered if you could buy your Dell notebook or PC direct from an IT store? Well now you can as Dell has partnered with TecAsia to form Dell's first official retail partnership in Malaysia. This means, you'll be able to purchase Dell consumer products in the TecAsia store in Kota Kinabalu and the soon to be opened TecAsia retail outlet over in Low Yat Plaza.

Image

Unique Dell concept areas will be set up in these outlets and customers will be able to feel and touch the Dell products, seek advice from service staff and most importantly purchase and take home Dell products. Now considering that previously the only way to get Dell products was to either call them or order them from the Internet, this move by Dell is a welcome one as it makes Dell products much more accessible; as well as faster to purchase.

For the moment TecAsia outlets will be the only stores to carry the Dell consumer products though Dell did mention that they are not restricting themselves to a single partner. TecAsia will be opening more outlets in 2008 as well with one planned for opening over in Penang and Petaling Jaya respectively. Only Dell's consumer line (which includes their XPS line) will be available at these outlets.

Dell online used to be Mike's own idea (a long time ago) to beat the contenders ...... Time is evidently the causation that the mission statement has weathered ......

Neutrally speaking, an article like this cannot be rated. Regards.

In any new Nokia phones if it still runs on Symbian, my advise (based on experience with Nokia phones), is to forget about it !

Nokia will keep changing their phone hardware but underneath with a cuckoo OS (Nokia runs on Symbian OS) that slows down and hangs...u can more or less forget about it. You can read more here if you want some facts :-

http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM.Tech.Q1.07/6856C375-FE4E-4BC8-B753-B48AF3BD8B30.html

Symbian is not the right OS for mobile phones, try OSX which means iPhone.

i thought that the way that dell saved costs to pass on to the customer was through the fact they did not have to go through resellers?

now they are opening outlets.. im wondering how much more of their profit margin are they cutting off to support this brick n mortar shop.

saw one of these in funan plaza down in sg.

I used to buy laptops from dell online because of the good price. Just wonder the retail outlet will have same quotation as ordered online. Otherwise, there is no point to buy from the outlet. But I think the best thing about the outlet is that we can have a chance to see the laptop live, so, quite nice to hear that soon it is launched in KL here.
