Still remember the Aztech Homeplug HL106E that we posted few months ago? Turns out, the HL106E is not the only new HomePlug device around. Aztech (http://www.aztech.com/my/) has just added two more new models - HL110E and HL110EW - into HomePlug’s 2010 line up, together with three different variations of HomePlug Starter Kits.

We have recently got an opportunity to check all of them during a media briefing with the good people at Aztech. Jump in to find out more.

HomePlug AV HL110E and HL110EW

The Aztech HomePlug AV series are designed for data heavy applications such as High Definition (HD) multimedia contents streaming, large sized file transfers and game consoles. Each of the HomePlug AV products has a maximum throughput of 200Mbps in order to cope with those applications.

In essence, both HL110E and HL110EW models have relatively same features except that the latter is also an 802.11n wireless access point and equipped with two Ethernet ports. The HL110E has a retail price of RM 139 each, while the HL110EW is priced at RM 249.

HomePlug Starter Kits

Aztech has also come out with Homeplug Starter Kit bundles that should be able to assist users in building a HomePlug network at their premise. Each kit contains two HomePlug devices and as we mentioned earlier, they come in three variations:

-    HL106E Starter Kit: featuring two HL106E HomePlug Turbo Ethernet Adaptor

-   HL110E Starter Kit: featuring two HL110E HomePlug AV Ethernet Adaptor

-    HL110W Starter Kit: featuring one HL110E HomePlug AV Ethernet Adaptor and one HL110EW HomePlus AV Wireless-N Extender

They are priced at RM 189, RM 259 and RM 359 respectively.

So, there you have it. All of the new products above are already on their way to the market, so keep a look for them at your favorite retailers.

I am interested to purchase the above after due intro by the sales retailer.

But I have a few concern, which I hope that you could assist before I make a decision to purchase a few for my home. My main purposes is to perform Internet@tv / streaming YouTube thru my Plasme TV.

1) My home is running on 3 Phase Wiring and I am not sure if my modem wifi router's wiring (located upstairs) is the same as my Media Player (located downstair). Can the Home plug work if the wiring is not running on "single phase" ?? can it work of "Separate" Phase, but within the same Meter or home ??

2) Can I puchase a combination of different model to suit my home environment (eg : HL 109EP, HL 110E and HL 110EW) and yet they can still work with each other ??

3) If I would like to see some live demo, where can I go ??

4) If after purchasing the unit and it can't work in my home to my satisfactory. Please advise if I can return back ??

Thanks to advise asap.

p/s my next alternative is investing in a media player wifi dongle, unfortunately I am also aware that it speed and quality will compromise or not as good as direct Ethernet connection.

According to Aztech Malaysia's Technical Manager - Yap Zee Chieun (the one that holds three HomePlug above), it works no matter what kind of wiring you use in your home. happy-smiley
