The Autodesk Design Competition is back for the second year running, taking up once again the quest of unleashing the creative minds of Malaysian students.
Co-organized by the Department of Polytechnic & Community College Education (EPCCE), Ministry of Higher Education and Design Technology Alliance (M) Sdn Bhd (DTA), and sponsored by Hewlett-Packard (HP), the competition is part of Autodesk’s efforts to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and be recognized for their creativity, innovative thinking, and design expertise.
The competition aims to provide students with an opportunity to learn about engineering and architectural design through a realistic, hands-on problem-solving experience using the computer as a tool. The competition also serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their design skills and gain new perspectives on how design teams from different disciplines approach a common design problem.
This year, the design theme is “Urbanisation in Design” and there are two categories for this competition; Building Design and Manufacturing Design. In the Building Design category, participants are required to design a community centre which incorporates a high-quality, environmental-friendly and groundbreaking design with a local tradition and culture approach based on a rural development initiative. Participants entering the Manufacturing Design category are required to submit a playground design with educational elements designed for the rural area. Total prizes worth more than RM70,000 will be awarded to the winning entries in both categories.
