Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd today announced the launch of Samsung Omnia

It brings together high performance business content, top of the range style and a fun, dynamic multi-media experience, to ensure consumers are always connected both at home and at work.
, meaning ‘everything’ in Latin and ‘wish’ in Arabic, goes beyond the current top-of-the-line features available in today’s mobile phones.
Bringing a PC environment to Mobile
The new Samsung
allows users to switch seamlessly between Microsoft Outlook email and productivity applications that replicate the look and feel of their PC - with a stroke of their finger.
Based on the most up to date Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system, Samsung
gives users a mobile extension to their PC experience, with access to MS Office documents such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Users can also send and receive email and manage their appointments in Outlook while on the go.
The Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system means users can download additional programs as they would on their PC and customize it for their individual needs.
For ease of navigation, an optical mouse similar to those on laptop computers offers improved usability and one-handed control.

In line with PIKOM's drive to bridge the digital divide and to make ICT more affordable to the masses, Microsoft Malaysia as part of their Unlimited Potential initiative has slashed the price of 2 variants of its popular Office 2007 production suite.
Beginning July 1st, the Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition will be permanently marked down to a suggested retail price of RM279 from its current price of RM499. Furthermore Microsoft is having a special promotion in conjunction with PC Fair II just for the months of August and September whereby an extra 20% discount will be offered which brings down the retail price to only RM199.
Also if you are heading to PC Fair at KL this weekend, make sure you are one of the early birds as Microsoft will be selling the first 100 copies at only RM99. This promotion is valid for the first day of PC Fair II only.
During the same months, the Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 will also be offered with a 20% discount. The promotion for Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2007 is valid for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) licenses only. OEM licenses can only be purchased by a customer if he buys this together with a new PC. Actual retail pricing will be determined by the resellers.
Even greater news for small business owners, Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 and Microsoft Office Professional 2007 will be running a special promotion from August to September 2008, which entitles customers to a free limited Office edition Touch ‘N Go card with RM20 value. This applies to OEM licenses only, and is valid while supplies last.
The Microsoft Office Home and Student Full Packaged Product (FPP) features Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote while the Small Business edition has the addition of Outlook and Publisher. An interesting point to note is that the Home and Student FPP actually allows you to install up to 3 PCs using a single license provided there are all in the same household.
