Malaysian blogsphere up in arms as Advertlets domain expires
by Vijandren Ramadass
Sunday, 06 January 2008 09:22 AM

While Josh Lim was busy talking to The Star about transforming Malaysia into an animation hub, someone over at his company, Josh Lim and Associates, conveniently forgot to renew the domain name for their much publicized Advertlets blog advertising system.

The inconvenience to the masses was that since Advertlets uses a javascript implementation to publish their ads (the code is part of the page for those who don't speak geek), all the sites that had the Advertlets code also became inaccessible or were redirected to a domain expired page. There are about two hundred blog entries about the boo-boo according to technorati. (sorry we're not putting up the blog links because the last time we did, it caused the particular blog to get shutdown for using too much bandwidth!)

The domain name has already been renewed, but only for a year. We'll probably have a similar entry again next year. What we don't seem to understand is the domain would only cost around USD10 at most to renew a year, why not just renew it for 10 years and save everyone the trouble?

A-DATA’s SSD-series also provides faster IOPS (inputs/outputs per second) features which can speed up the boot up time of notebooks. When processing the 512 bytes read transfer, more than 9000 of IOPS can be achieved on 1.8 inches ZIF SSD. So far we have not had any word on availability of these SSDs here in Malaysia but stay tuned for more updates.

Bye Bye Netscape Navigator
by Nigel Yap
Wednesday, 02 January 2008 11:22 AM

Image

Well it was bound to happen eventually. Netscape Navigator, the pioneer web browser is taking its final bow as AOL will no longer be providing the browser after February 1, 2008. Of course I highly doubt that most of you readers are actually using the Netscape browser anymore, and you're most likely using either FireFox or IE. Of course it still is kinda of weird seeing a long standing browser brand coming to an end. There will still be older version but it seems that the Netscape team is suggesting current users make a leap to Firefox, which I'm pretty sure quite a bit of us here have come to love. Well here's to the long run Netscape and may its final days be remembered.
