While the device itself has pop up in certain retail stores since earlier this month, ASUS Malaysia today has announced that a brand new ASUS Fonepad 7 model has arrived in our market. Wait…didn’t ASUS has just refreshed the Fonepad 7 line-up recently? Like 2 months ago?
If that’s the case, how can one differentiate between this newly released model and previous Fonepad 7 models? Well…first and foremost, the new Fonepad 7 model features a brand new physical design.
The newly redesigned ASUS Fonepad 7 (also known by its model number, FE170CG) is apparently slimmer that the Fonepad 7 Dual SIM (ME175CG) that was released earlier this year but still 0.2mm thicker than the original 2013 Fonepad. Nevertheless, the new Fonepad 7 FE170CG is the lightest among them all at 290 grams.
Additionally, the Fonepad 7 FE170CG also comes standard with ZenUI which is the same interface that ASUS used for ZenFone devices. The 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core, quad-thread processor and 1GB RAM in the new Fonepad 7 FE170CG are still identical to the Fonepad 7 Dual SIM ME175CG but now, users are able to choose to obtain either 4GB or 8GB variant.
Not to forget, the 7-inch display on the newer Fonepad 7 FE170CG has a lower resolution of 1024 x 600 as opposed to the 1280 x 800 resolution that are available on previous Fonepad 7 models. The Fonepad 7 FE170CG is also equipped with 2-megapixels rear camera and 0.3-megapixels camera; the smallest of any Fonepad 7 models that have ever been released into the market.
If you want to get your hands on the new Fonepad 7 FE170CG, it is available at all ASUS Malaysia retailers including Storekini with a price tag of RM 499 for 4GB model and RM 599 for 8GB model.
