Xiaomi to Release New 16000mAh Mi Power Bank in China Next Week, Retails At Only RM53

The Mi Power Bank is undoubtedly one of the most popular products from Xiaomi here in Malaysia. One can even assume that the power bank, which is available in two capacities, is even more popular than the Chinese company’s smartphones. Next week, it looks like there’ll be another variant of the Mi Power Bank: an extra-high capacity 16,000mAh variant.

The two current Mi Power Bank variants are the pocketable 5,200mAh variant and a larger 10,400mAh one – where both have been exceptionally popular among Malaysian consumers. It’s managed to even spawn a massive secondary economy of enterprising individuals stocking up on these products that continues to this day. One of the main reasons behind this is the exceptionally low price of the Mi Power Bank: RM25 for 5,200mAh and RM36 for the 10,400mAh variants.

For many, the 10,400mAh should be more than enough to last several charges – it can charge the Mi 3 from a flat battery to full two and a half times – but it looks like there is a market for those who are demanding for more. Next week, Xiaomi will be holding another large-scale sale on 11 November, and one of the products that will be released that day will be the 16,000mAh Mi Power Bank…and it’ll cost just 99 Yuan (about RM53) for its “Double 11” promotion next Tuesday (11 November). After that, it will retail for 129 Yuan (about RM70).

That’s not all. Given the extra large capacity, the 16,000mAh Mi Power Bank will also feature dual-port output, allowing users to charge two devices simultaneously. And just like other Mi Power Banks, the new variant is also housed in a full aluminium case and uses LG and Samsung batteries. These new features definitely make the new 16,000mAh Mi Power Bank an exceptionally good product – and for RM53, there really is no other competitor power bank that comes remotely close.

Unfortunately, there is no indication yet that this variant of the power bank will make its way out of the Chinese market. The last Xiaomi product to be released in Malaysia is the Piston In-Ear Earphones several months ago, and there is still no indication of the flagship Mi 4 smartphone making its way here yet. Nevertheless, we’re sure there will some enterprising Malaysians who will find a way to purchase one (or one dozen) next week.
