Previous, there are two big requirements if you intend to embark into overclocking world with Intel 4th generation Core processors: first, you can only do it with K-series models such as Core i7-4770K and Core i5-4670K and second, you also need a Z87-based motherboard. The second requirement has recently being overruled though as multiple manufacturers have announced BIOS updates to enable K-series overclocking on selected non-Z87 motherboards.
One such manufacturer is ASUS who have also deployed the free update for several H87 and B85-based motherboards including three models that are officially available in Malaysia: H87I-Plus, H87M-E and B85M-G. Apart from the new overclocking capability, the update also include several new features including a “Last Modified” log that keep track of settings that users done as well as the ability to save settings into “Favorites” list.
