Think that Google Glass is just a piece of fancy eyewear that can connect to the internet? Well, it is, sort of, but soon, Google Glass will be able to do so much more. The company just announced that they are currently working on apps for Google Glass at the ongoing South by South West conference in Austin, Texas. First up, Page and Co. have been working with New York Times for Glass so the eyewear can deliver a headline, byline and an accompanying image right to user’s vision; users can even opt to have the story read out loud to them.

Other apps that are in the works include Gmail, whereby the sender’s image and subject line will appear on the display, Evernote, as well as Skitch, which allow users to send images to the services using Glass. Path also has a Glass app of its own that not only delivers the latest updates right to the display, but also allows users to post and reply comments.
