It might not be the first Intel Atom-based smartphone around but nevertheless, this particular device has positioned itself to be the first such device in Malaysia. Say hello to the new Acer Liquid C1, which will be heading into our shores in March 2013.
The Android smartphone is powered by the new Intel Atom Z2420 – codenamed “Lexington“ – which was recently announced at CES 2013. The SoC packs together a HyperThreading-enabled single core 1.2GHz CPU and 400MHz PowerVR SGX540 GPU. In addition to that, the 10mm thin smartphone is also equipped with 4GB worth of internal storage and 1GB of DDR2 RAM.

While the prototype unit that we briefly encountered here runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwitch, Acer Malaysia representative has stated that the company is working on an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the device that hopefully will be ready when it is released in Malaysia next month. Even though if Acer somehow misses the launch date, users can still expect to see the update to be delivered via OTA to the device once it is ready for deployment.
Apart from that, the Acer Liquid C1 is also equipped with 8.0-megapixels main camera and a 0.3-megapixels front-facing camera as well as a 2,000mAh removable battery that able to provide the device with up to 9 hours of 3G talk time and 400 hours of 3G standby time. Not to forget, it also features a 4.3-inch IPS touch display with graphics resolution of 960×540.
Available in black and white colorways, Acer Malaysia didn’t reveal the actual pricing for the device apart from the fact that it will be priced at under RM 1,000. As a comparison, the smartphone is priced at RM 1,038 (THB 9,990) in Thailand which it was launched there recently.
Our time with the prototype device was so brief to the extent that we didn’t get to do much with it – hence, do enjoy the photos below for the time being as well as its technical specifications.

phone quite pricy, but still worth it. question:
which kind of SIM card is suitable for this phone? Mini-SIM or Micro-SIM?
The Acer Liquid C1 utilizes standard SIM card, as you can see on one of the images above.
