Fresh from its recent unveiling at CES 2013, if you think that the new Asus MeMO Pad is derived from Google Nexus 7 (which is also manufactured by Asus)…well, you are partially right. The new tablet – which will be released in Malaysia this week – might features a 7-inch display just like the famed Google tablet but much of their internal hardware is rather different from each other.
Instead of powered by the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset as per Nexus 7, the MeMO Pad is equipped with a much more modest Prizm WM8950 chipset by Wondermedia (a company owned by VIA) that features a single-core ARM Cortex-A9 1GHz processor and an ARM Mali-400 GPU. Runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the tablet’s 7-inch display has a graphics resolution of 1024×600, 169PPI pixel density, 140-degree viewing angle and 350-nits brightness.
In addition to that, the Asus MeMO Pad is also equipped with 1GB of RAM together with 8GB internal the storage and the support for microSD cards with storage of up to 32GB. It also comes together with 1-megapixels front-facing camera and a 4270mAh battery that provides the table with up to 7 hours of battery life. Unfortunately, only the Wi-Fi version of the tablet will be available in Malaysia for the time being.
The new Asus MeMO Pad will be out in the market this week with a price tag of RM 499. Click on the Read More link below to check out additional hands-on photos of the tablet.
